Privacy Policy

1. Overview

ChainE is a locally-run desktop application. Your trading data stays on your computer. We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate the licensing system and provide customer support. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way.

2. Data We Collect

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

ChainE does not collect, transmit, or have access to:

Your Zerodha credentials (API key, secret, access token) — stored locally only
Your trading positions, orders, or P&L
Your option chain data or market data
Your journal entries or trade history
Your config settings, capital, or stoploss levels
Any data from your Zerodha/Kite Connect account

All of the above stays entirely on your local machine. The Kite Connect WebSocket connection is between your PC and Zerodha's servers — ChainE's license server is not involved.

4. License Heartbeat

While ChainE is running, it sends a heartbeat to our license server every 5 minutes. This heartbeat contains: your license key, machine ID, and IP address. It is used to detect concurrent sessions (only 1 active session per license allowed). Heartbeat data is automatically deleted when it becomes stale (older than 15 minutes).

5. Cookies and Local Storage

The ChainE website (chainehq.com) does not use cookies or tracking scripts. There are no analytics, no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixels, no ad trackers.

The ChainE application uses browser localStorage to save your display preferences (theme, column toggles, zone settings). This data never leaves your browser.

6. Third-Party Services

Razorpay — processes payments. Subject to Razorpay's Privacy Policy. We receive payment confirmations but do not store card/UPI details.
Zerodha Kite Connect — provides live market data. Subject to Zerodha's Privacy Policy. Connection is directly between your PC and Zerodha.
Gmail SMTP — sends license and notification emails from [email protected].

7. Data Retention

License records — retained as long as your license is active, plus 1 year after expiry
Payment records — retained for 7 years (Indian tax compliance)
Heartbeat data — auto-deleted after 15 minutes
Email communications — retained in support inbox for customer service purposes

8. Data Security

License server communication uses HTTPS (TLS encryption). License keys are generated using cryptographically secure random functions. The license database is hosted on a secured VPS with SSH-only access. Payment processing is handled entirely by Razorpay's PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure.

9. Your Rights

You may request:

Access — what data we hold about you
Correction — update your email or name
Deletion — remove your data (note: this will deactivate your license)

10. Children

ChainE is intended for adults who participate in options trading. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 18 years of age.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date. Continued use of ChainE constitutes acceptance of any changes.
